1000th Tweet
I now have been using Twitter for about a month now and really liking it. It allows me to communicate with people from all over who I never would have met if it wasn’t through Twitter. It also helps with getting my photography out. Since joining Twitter my Flickr account views has almost doubled. Every time I post photos to Flickr I send out a Tweet to all of my followers and almost instantly I am getting views. Where as before I would maybe get one or two views if I was lucky.
I recently downloaded the Twitter app. Twhirl and it takes the pushing the refresh button every few seconds out of the equation. You get automatic updates every few minutes. So basically if I am online I can have Twhirl sitting in the background and I get the updates without me having to visit the site every few minutes.
I don’t think Twitter has hit the mainstream social networking sites like Facebook or Myspace, but I don’t think it will reach that kind of status because Twitter is a different type of networking site. Twitter is almost like a job in a sense. I feel the need to Tweet everyday and to share certain things that I find interesting on the web. A lot of my friends ask me why I use Twitter because, “isn’t that what you already do in the Facebook Status” and I don’t think they’ll ever understand.
Twitter is a simple site and thats what I think everybody loves about it. It doesn’t take a programmer to use it. Theres simple features that are easy to use and communicate. There are so many different outlets that you can Tweet from now to; the web, twhirl, mobile phones and the list goes on.
Non the less Twitter is growing rapidly through the social networking community and becoming a larger community everyday. It will be exciting to see where Twitter goes and how people will use it in the future.
A couple of Twitter gods (they have a lot of followers) that I like to follow are:
Laughingsquid from Laughingsquid.com
Kevinrose from Digg.com
Leolaporte from Leoville.com
and go and buy a Twitter shirt from TweetTees
